The final presentation on the 30th of April, 2020 marked the end of phase 1 of the C2COE Multi-Domain Operations C2 Demonstrator. Colonel (Ret.) Corné Govaarts experienced an Interactive Commanders Update Brief, including a CCIR-like incident update, fully rendered in VR and stated that this product is an ideal discussion-starter for Senior Leadership within the NATO Alliance. The operational-level MDOC2D provides a unique look at how commanders can use new technology to improve C2 and become less dependent on traditional, physically centralized Command Posts and structures.
‘The use of VR and real time processing of information provided by HCSS is never, or at least not often, used by NATO. It can speed-up information processes and bring Command and Control to a new level without a commander losing grip on the operational level (instead of shifting to the tactical level). Having a product like this at the end of Phase 1 is very promising for future developments and might have an impact on current doctrine and processes, but the interpersonal, creative aspect of Command and Control must not be lost.’; according to Colonel (Ret.) Corne Govaarts.
A possible Roadshow after the summer of 2020 will demonstrate the potential of this application to improve and accelerate military C2 efficiency and the Military Decision-Making Process through increased Situational Awareness and faster processing of information in a Command Post. This makes the Leadership more aware of the possibilities of state-of-the-art technologies to support military decision-making.
HCSS makes models and monitors for public and private organizations to improve their Situational Awareness and give them a better understanding of their strategic environment. Implementing these models is one of the spearheads of the MDOC2D project.
Enliven Media introduces new, effective forms of learning and training by opening the door to a whole new perspective, using virtual reality. The MDOC2D will become a mix of Real Life Interaction and a Virtual Reality experience that is unique within Command and Control.
