Major General Jaime Íñiguez Andrade began his military career in 1981 and retired in 2019 as the commander of the Joint Special Operations Command. Over his 38 years of service, he dedicated more than half of his career to Special Operations Units. He served in the Paratrooper Brigade, Rapid Action Force, NATO Special Operations Headquarters, and the operations command. His deployments included missions in Central America, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, and Afghanistan, where he led the Special Operations Unit’s fusion cell. In 2021, he was appointed as the NATO Special Operations Forces Senior Mentor.

The aim of the NATO C2 COE and NATO senior mentors is to foster the military strategic debate of a wider audience which includes staff officers in order to prepare them for future endeavors and support cultural change.
