Recently we had a visit of a delegation of the Division Schnelle Kräfte (DSK) to experience our Multi-Domain C2 Demonstrator. After a brief introduction by Major Marcel Scherrenburg (NLD A) the delegation, consisting of the commander (DEU) and the Deputy Commanders (DEU and NLD), experienced the a modern Command Post fully rendered in Virtual Reality where working dispersed is simulated. After a fruitful discussion, both the DSK and the NATO C2COE gathered knowledge and expectations on how to further develop the concept.
Germany’s paratroopers and helicopter forces as well as Special Operations Forces Command are consolidated in the Division Schnelle Kräfte (DSK), or Rapid Response Forces Division (RRFD). The Division is headquartered in Stadtallendorf. In addition to Germany’s 1 Airborne Brigade, the Dutch 11 Luchtmobiele Brigade, or Air Assault Brigade, has been under the Division’s command since 12 June 2014. Together, the Division’s roughly 2,300 Dutch and 9,500 German soldiers are committed champions of Dutch-German Army cooperation. The DSK is the mainstay of air manoeuvre capability in the Dutch and German armies. (Bundeswehr.de)
In a future even more volatile, uncertain, ambiguous, and complex environment, the amount of data to be processed and the interconnected events in multiple domains will increase the demand for support to the operational level commander’s decision-making process (DMP). This needs to be combined with efforts to increase survivability on the modern battlefield.
