During a Monday afternoon huddle, SGTAO Witold, a Defensity College student and NATO C2COE staff member, shared insights from his research on the Sovereign Cyber Effects Provided Voluntarily by Allies (SCEPVA) mechanism. His presentation examined how SCEPVA could be used within the Alliance, drawing on academic literature and available open-source material. The goal was to assess the implications of this mechanism for operational NATO commanders, particularly its impact on C2, and to consider whether there is room for improvement.

Our collaboration with university students is a two-way investment. For the Centre, these engagements bring in new research that help sharpen our thinking and keep our work connected to the wider academic debate. For the students, working with practitioners offers real-world context, access to expert guidance, and a clearer view of how their studies translate into for instance operational challenges. Together, we create a constructive bridge between academic learning and military practice, strengthening both communities in the process.
