Military Design Thinking - Shaping a new training program for Dutch Civil-Military Cooperation officers

This article explores using Military Design Thinking (MDT) to develop a new training program for Dutch Civil Military Cooperation (CIMIC) officers. Hornstra et al. created the MDT method for agile Command and Control in military settings. The Dutch armed forces are now focusing on territorial defense and allied support. The MDT process included phases like STARTEX, Reconnaissance, Development, and Consolidation, involving CIMIC officers and civil administration experts. This method helped identify learning needs, brainstorm ideas, and refine training activities for effective implementation. Authors: MAJ Steven Hornstra, LTC Jaap Hoogenboezem, Prof. Steven Durning, and Prof. Walther van Mook.
