In a new article for the NATO C2COE, Major General Dominique Luzeaux (Digital Transformation Champion and Special Advisor to SACT) argues that Multi-Domain Operations demand more than better connectivity between existing systems. They demand a fundamentally different architecture.
Data will always be incomplete or contested, and partly sourced from civilian and commercial providers, requiring a “confidence-aware” architecture. So trust itself must become computable, and decisions must be weighted accordingly. A system that hides its own uncertainty is more dangerous than one that degrades visibly in which false confidence is the real threat. The real shift isn’t collecting more data, but knowing how much to trust the data you’ve got. Every piece of information must carry a measure level of confidence based on: where it came from, how “fresh” it is, how it’s been handled along the way.
