NATO C2COE support to Federated Mission Networking

image003 The Federated Mission Networking (FMN) Change and Implementation Coordination Working Group (CICWG), Capability Planning Working Group (CPWG) and Operational Coordination Working Group (OCWG) conducted a collocated meeting hosted by the NATO C2COE in the Kromhout Barracks in Utrecht, The Netherlands, from November 29th to December 2nd 2016. This meeting enabled the working groups to cross-coordinate their efforts on developing coherent FMN products and services supporting operational processes.

The concept of FMN is a key contribution to the Connected Forces Initiative (CFI), helping Allied partner forces better communicate, train and operate together. FMN enables the rapid instantiation of mission networks by federating NATO, NATO Nations and Mission Partner capabilities, thereby enhancing interoperability and information sharing. The purpose of FMN is ultimately to support command and control and decision-making in future operations.

The participants agreed that their meeting had been very successful and very well organised. Special thanks goes to the NATO C2COE Support Branch. They did a wonderful job with their extensive and effective support on all administrative and other issues they took care for. Both ladies received an orchid, as a sign of appreciation.
